Why Stalin and Napoleon are alike?

There are various reasons why Stalin and Napoleon are similar, firstly Stalin met Karl Marx and admired him when Stalin was young, he later followed Marx's Marxism. On the other hand, Napoleon followed Old Major for his theories and revolution. Also, Stalin was one of the leaders in the communist party with Trotsky, Napoleon is not a lot different from Stalin. He was one of the leaders of the farm with Snowball after they expelled the man-kinds out of Animal Farm. Later, Stalin fought with Trotsky for power and eventually won, he expelled Trotsky out of the USSR. Napoleon did something similar too, he fought with Snowball for the ultimate power of the farm, he won and expelled Snowball out of the farm with his 9 fierce dogs chasing after Snowball. At last, the most obvious point is, Stalin and Napoleon were both cruel dictators who didn't let people go oppose him, anyone who didn't agree with Stalin or Napoleon would be executed, some of them were even executed violently and horribly.

How did Orwell utilized the two of them? Is Napoleon meant to be symbolizing Stalin?

Orwell transformed the story of Russian Revolution into a fable, and he added some other elements to make the story more interesting and easier to understand, that's why the Animal Farm is not completely the same as the Russian Revolution and its history. And yes, in Animal Farm, Napoleon represents Joseph Stalin in real life history. Napoleon's actions and thoughts are primarily based on Stalin, such as being a dictator and forcing animals to confess non-existed crimes. From all the above points, we can see that Orwell has succeeded symbolizing Napoleon as Stalin in the story.
